The mirror on the wall

A mirror can be deceiving,

All it can do is lie,

It can make you think you’re not all worth,

It shows you from the outside.

It can show you your skin,

Or what your teeth look like when you smile,

your scars your body and your eyes,

But nothing otherwise.

It can’t show you how your eyelids flutter,

Or your hair blows in the cold wind.

Or when you are drifting off to sleep,

It doesn’t show you what the world sees.

it doesn’t show you how your eyes light up,

When you see someone you like

Or can’t show the joy on your face,

When you’re loving something you do.

It cannot show you being you,

Or capture your genuine smile,

Where no one else can see.

Your reflection cannot tell you,

All the things you mean to me.

A mirror can be deceiving,

All it can do is lie.

So if you look into it,

And think that it dictates your worth,

It is time that you looked inside.
